Louis-Alexandre Cabié, born in 1853, is a French painter. A student of Henri Harpignies and Hippolyte Pradelles, he settled in Bordeaux around 1873 and worked in the region, on location. He made many trips to Saintonge, where he depicted the countryside and the banks of the Charente near Cognac. The banks of the Gironde estuary, the views of Royan or the rocks of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne were regular sources of inspiration until the end of his life. During his life in Bordeaux, he travelled to Périgord. He also worked for the Vieillard factory in Bordeaux, and executed his landscapes on vases. Three of them are kept at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Bordeaux. In 1887, he sent works to the Salon des artistes français where he exhibited throughout his career, winning medals. Thus, in 1908, he was named a knight of the Legion of Honour with his master and friend Harpignies as his godfather.
