Created by Oscar Niemeyer, in collaboration with his daughter Ana Maria Niemeyer, the Rio Chaise, a rocking chair originally designed for his own use in 1970. Rio's curves, reminiscent of the Brazilian coastline and a woman's silhouette, offer a harmonious blend of aesthetic innovation and ergonomic functionality. Its elegant lines and careful design make it a timeless piece, capturing the essence of Niemeyer's artistic genius in the field of furniture. Originally designed in the 1970s, the Rio was not marketed until 1978, when it was produced by Tendo Brasileira. In the 1990s, production was taken over by Moveis Tapperman. This Rio chair was produced by Tendo Brasileira in the 1970s-1980s. Made of lacquer-stained plywood and natural rattan wicker stretched over the frame to form the seat.
