This serious text of a little-known King is by Mr Duclos, of the Royal Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres retraces the "History of Louis XI", in three beautiful volumes in 12, full speckled glazed calf, smooth spines decorated with gilded irons, garnet morocco title, covers with triple gilded fillet frames, fleurs-de-lys at the corners, Coat of arms on the covers of fine quality, marbled guards, red edges. Uncommon copy complete and in good condition. With in frontice a representation of the Bust of the King after the tomb of Notre-Dame de Cleri in marble and drawn by Fessard and engraved by Jaura of this King who was important for nascent France with his conquests and his alliances. Work dedicated to the Count of Maurepas. A captivating story in which the Author immerses us in the Tumultuous Universe of 15th century France, a very complete work of noble provenance in good condition and complete.
