" Garmich Partenkirchen 1939… Atmosphere..."
As if the painter had taken refuge in his canvas to find some peace and quiet three years after the Winter Olympics. He set up his easel in the peaceful Frühlingstrasse in Garmisch Partenkirchen, he put his brush on his canvas, omitting all turpitude and vehemence. I found the same atmosphere on the web, a site of old postcards (postkarte) makes us relive the same journey. The Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany, dominates the shingle roofs and drains its very fresh air. Oil on canvas signed and dated Munchen 1939.
