A silver and gold pendant decorated with diamonds and rubies and set with a sardonyx cameo of Veronica’s veil.

The pendant dates to the 18th century, the agate cameo dates to the 17th century.

The pendant measures 6.9 x 3cm including suspension chain.

The cameo measures 2 x 1.9cm.

Weighs 13.2 grams.

The Veil of Veronica is a Christian relic consisting of a piece of cloth said to bear an image of the Holy Face of Jesus. The story of the image’s origin is related to the sixth Station of the Cross, wherein Saint Veronica, encountering Jesus along the Via Dolorosa to Calvary, wipes the blood and sweat from his face with her veil.
