Straight blade with double hollow sides, with a point in the extension of the back, stamped on the heel with the C of Inspector Cherrer in charge from 06/1807 to 12/1808 and the M of Controller Mouton in this position until 02/1809. The back is engraved Mture Imple of the Klingenthal Coulaux Frères. Guard with three secondary rounded branches. Handle covered in black leather filigree with twisted brass wire. Cap with short tail cut in an accolade. All the pieces are stamped with the C of the assembler, which can be found under the quillon next to the V of verification. Quillon bearing the Versailles bar, as well as the J of Inspector Jacqueson in Versailles from 11/1809 and the JC punch of controller J N Cazamajou in Versailles since 01/1809.
The scabbard is made of thick rolled sheet metal. The cup is held by a small screw fixed to the back. Although lightened compared to the model from the beginning of the Empire, this scabbard remains heavy. It is registered in accordance with regulations on the reverse C N° 75, the C designating the company and the 75 the number of the weapon in the company. The upper bail bracelet also bears the number 279. The symmetrical dart is in the shape of a lyre.
This weapon is in excellent condition. The blade forged in Klingenthal at the end of 1808 was mounted in 1809 in Versailles. Half of the blades produced by Klingenthal were, in fact, shipped for mounting in Versailles.
