Object description :

"Burma, Second Half Of The 19th Century, Pair Of Carved Wooden Elephant Saddles. "
Burma, second half of the 19th century, rare and superb pair of carved wooden stools or stools depicting harnessed elephants. Such pieces, very similar but without the palanquin serving as a seat or support, were present at the great international art dealer Claude de Marteau (1935-2016). They are represented lying down, trunks in the air and decorated with harnessing. The quality of the sculpture restores the beauty of these marvelous animals.
