"Black Satin Ceremonial Coat Branded To The City Of Lyon Circa 1900"
Circa 1880-1910 France Majestic coat for indoor or ceremonial wear in black satin and purple damask branded to the City of Lyon, Naples, Raphaël Goudstikker dating from the Belle Epoque. Loose cut with double-breasted buttoning in the manner of 18th century dressing gowns or Banyans. Long sleeves with cuffs and a large shawl collar revealing the purple silk lining with architectural damask motifs. A draped scarf starts from the left shoulder, held by four black satin buttons embroidered with gold thread with a reminder on the crossed front. A tassel and gold fringe trimming gives this scarf a solemn appearance worthy of a magistrate (?). No defects to report apart from a few rare pulled threads. No stains or holes. Very good condition in terms of color and conservation. Dimensions: Equivalent to men's size 54-56 France. Height 147 cm, shoulders 48 cm, chest and waist 115 cm, sleeves 62 cm.
