Beautiful bright and finely crafted work by the Marseille painter André Maglione which represents a lively view of the Quai du Brescon in Martigues.
The Quai du Brescon also called "bird mirror" is a favorite place for painters at the end of the 19th century, André Maglione will produce different views of this place at different times of the day.
The artist was able to transcribe the atmosphere of a summer day on the Mediterranean through his palette of warm colors and his play of light, particularly on the facades of the houses.
A student of the painter Emile Loubon and close to the painters Félix Ziem, Joseph Suchet and Adolphe Monticelli, André Maglione exhibited at the Parisian Salon from 1866.
He is the founder of the Cercle artistique de Marseille in 1867, and regularly appears at the exhibitions of the Association of Marseille Artists.
In 1903, he published a book entitled "Monticelli intime de 1871 à sa mort" where he describes Paul Cézanne's meetings with the painter. Monticelli.
