Jewish Cap, Tunisia Headdress Douka Judaica Antique Hat

This headdress was worn by married Jewish women in Tunis. The decoration was made by the seamstresses who specialized in embroidery on fabric. These headdresses were first reserved for women from princely families and then for those of the bourgeoisie. They are the prerogative of married women. Like the belt, they are worn for the first time on the wedding day.
