Pair Of Italian Gilded Mirrors 1800 rectangular shaped frames with a simple half bull's eye outline decorated at the edges with a knurl. In the cimasa are carved foliate decorations surmounted by two specular birds, giving a sense of harmony and balance. As can be seen from the pictures on the back of the mirrors, their manufacture is very laborious as the carved pieces are attached to the frame by means of small support points aided by a back reinforcement. This workmanship, the effect of which is akin to fretwork, gives the pair of antique mirrors a sense of lightness and makes them suitable for placement in any interior. They are of Italian provenance from 1800 and are gilded in pure gold, in good condition.
