Couple of angels
Gilded and painted wood, cm alt 112 x 92
Base: 28 x 30 x 29 cm
The pair of angels made of painted and gilded wood is an example of 18th century Lombard manufacture. The two figures are presented kneeling on a high base carved meticulously and gilded. The two angels are similar in appearance, but have some variations, for example in clothing: both are wrapped in a golden robe that falls in swollen drapes, but one the drape covers a shoulder and the entire torso, While in the other it surrounds his body from below the chest. The poses are also different, one with his hands together, the other with a hand to his chest while the other protrudes it forward. Their wings, also golden, are in one case unfolded, in the other "resting" and they are distinguished by the high quality of the carving that describes them minutely in their rich plumage.
