Léon Valckenaere is a marine painter, born in Bruges in 1853. He finds his inspiration in Nieuwpoort, Ostend, along the banks of the Scheldt as well as in the Netherlands. The Ostend Museum preserves his work Entry of a steamer into the port of Ostend. He died in Brussels in 1923.
