"19th Century Small Sideboard Trompe l'Oeil "
Elegant trompe l'oeil small sideboard, made of painted poplar wood and then gilded with gold leaf. The golden details are found in the capitals of the corner columns, and in the straight knob-shaped feet. But the real peculiarity of this sideboard is the painted depiction in the foreground of a Viennese safe from the Wiese & Comp company. The safe, semi-open and represented with skilful perspective, seems almost real. Inside, with great attention to detail, glittering jewels, money, precious objects and the portrait of a girl are depicted. Each element is painted with skill, creating an effect of depth and surprising realism. The furniture was produced in Italy in the mid to late 19th century.
