Lovely oil on canvas depicting a genre scene in the painter's studio. This canvas is signed Émile Brisset (1844-1904), and dated 1888. The scene takes place in a large and vast room, richly furnished and decorated. There is carved and gilded wooden furniture, a screen, art objects, and the painter's few paintings. Four characters are present in this scene, the painter holding his palette, a man courting a lady of quality, and a man examining a painting with a magnifying glass. This painting is bright and full of life. It is signed and dated lower right. Original canvas. Its large frame is made of wood and stuck gilded with leaf and lacquered cream white. The frame also features a small brass plaque with the artist's name. On the back of the canvas, there is a stamp "MOIRINAT 184 Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris".
