"Consulate Period Silverware Stamped Jacob Frères "
Consulate period silver cabinet stamped Jacob Frères around 1800. Structure in oak veneered with mahogany (very thick veneer). Two display cases with gilded bronze doors separated by three griffons in gold leaf gilded wood, topped by a box with two drawers decorated on each side with gilded bronze stars. Under the top a blackened wooden molding. Under the drawers as well as the lower part below the doors a blackened wooden strip. Each display case has a waterproof box inside the cabinet (yellow parts) to prevent the silverware from oxidizing. The back of the cabinet has been partly retouched. On the uprights and the top crosspiece there remains old glued paper (black parts), we assume that the back of the cabinet was covered with paper like the back of paintings, pastels, to prevent moisture from penetrating the cabinet and oxidizing the silverware. Stamp at the top of the left upright: Jacob Frères Rue Meslée. It is in good condition. Width: 178 cm. Depth of the top: 56 cm. Height: 114 cm. For delivery costs please contact us.
