Pair of Louis XIV candlesticks in finely chiseled gilded bronze, socket, octagonal shaft and base, base with cut sides, hallmarked with the C Couronné*, from the late 17th-18th centuries. These candlesticks are in good condition. They were hallmarked in the mid-18th century with the C Couronné on the foot and the socket (under Louis XV). Please note: they will need cleaning, minor shocks and wear from time, see photos. *the crowned C Designed under Louis XV to be a tax hallmark, the crowned C has also become a quality and date hallmark for collectors: used between 1745 and 1749, it only seems to have been carved on the most refined bronzes.
