His uncle Jules Alfred Hervé is a drawing teacher. A student at the Diderot college in Langres (Haute-Marne), predisposed to drawing, then later to painting, Jules-René Hervé moved to Paris in 1908, where he continued his studies at the school of decorative arts. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon des artistes français in 1910. Our painting is typical of the production of Jules René Hervé, a style recognizable among all, a very particular touch, a Parisian view, the lively quays. The palette in very specific blue-gray tones. In the background, Notre Dame, barely visible in the fog, attracts the eye.
