"Art Deco Ceramic Peacock Mnf France Circa 1930"
Art Deco ceramic sculpture called "crispée" depicting a white enameled peacock on its dark gray enameled base, signed below "Sèvres - MNF - France" for Manufacture Nouvelle de faïences, circa 1930, in perfect condition. Length 70 cm, width 19 cm, height 32 cm. Paul Sailly (born in Montpellier, around 1878), ceramic engineer, 140, Grande Rue, registered the trademarks "SEVRES MNF France" and "XR Sèvres" in 1929; for artistic earthenware. MNF for "Manufacture Nouvelle de Faïences", but this acronym following the word "Sèvres", could not fail to be confused with that of the national manufacture of Sèvres. The latter must have protested and in 1936, the SARL called VINSARE registered: "SEVRES VINSARE France" for "porcelain, earthenware and pottery". "L. Battut, 37, rue de Paradis" in Paris had the exclusive representation in 1930. Vinsare, which had six or seven workers, still appeared in the Annuaire du Commerce in 1942. This company manufactured vases, lamps and many animal sculptures covered with a "shagreen enamel" giving a more "crisp" than cracked effect.
