Charles Moreau Vauthier comes from a family of artists: his father worked in ivory and his brother was a sculptor.
He studied in the studios of Jean Léon Gérôme and Paul Baudry.
His works are exhibited at the Salon.
In 1906, he settled in Bourron-Marlotte, where he opened a small local museum. In December 1907, he founded the Société des amis de la forêt de Fontainebleau, of which he was vice-president, as well as the Société l'Artistique. He teaches drawing at the Comairas school in Fontainebleau.
