Georges Wasterlain (Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont 1889-Alost 1963), belgian sculptor, is little known to the art-loving public outside the Centre region and the Mons-Borinage region. His favorite themes are workers and in particular miners, whom he knew well for having gone down into the mine at a very young age. With Irma his wife, he lived through very difficult years before achieving consecration with the award of the Prix du Hainaut in 1928. His rise continued until the Second World War.
Works exhibited at the Bois du Cazier.
