Zeytline - Large Seascape - Sailboat At Sea - 1930

Gorgeous painting by Léon ZEYTLINE titled "man overboard" representing several sailors on board a rowboat heading towards a buoy thrown to a man who has fallen into the water ; in the background, a sailboat faces rough seas, the crew monitors the rescue operation.
Note the precision of the details (sailor equipped with a megaphone...) and the perspective which make the scene very alive as well as the exceptional rendering of the waves broken by the boat !

The work for sale also presents a spectacular format of 85 x 91 cms !!

If the Parisian works of Léon ZEYTLINE, with particularly careful compositions, represent the reference in terms of belle époque painting in the company of Jean BÉRAUD, Edouard CORTES, Eugène GALIEN LALOUE, Luigi LOIR... his seascapes are also very appreciated, particularly when they represent sailboats on rough seas as is the case here.

His works are offered by important foreign galleries (USA and United Kingdom in particular) where they can sell for several tens of thousands of euros - Excellent results have also been reported at Christie's and Sotheby's in recent years !
