Roman Charity Last Quarter Of The 17th Century - Large Oil On Canvas On Antique Frame

Interesting large oil on canvas depicting the representation of Roman Charity. The painting was made by a talented painter from the Roman area of ​​the second half of the 17th century and is stylistically linked to the artistic results of a great master of the time, the Perugian painter Gian Domenico Cerrini (Perugia, 1609 – Rome, 1681), who created a true prototype of this representation that served as a model for other painters to follow, and today, preserved at the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia. In our case, it is not a slavish copy, but a personal elaboration of this painter, taken from that of the Perugian master. It is likely that it may have come from the Roman workshop of the Perugian painter in the period of late activity or from a close follower of the 1680s.

The canvas is in good condition and already restored.

The dimensions of the painting are: 97cm x 134cm (canvas); 152cm x 113cm (with frame)

The frame on which it is mounted is old and contemporary with the painting, but it was probably restored to wood over time.
