"Two 15th Century Illuminations"
Two framed illuminations from the 15th century, depicting battles perhaps from the Hundred Years' War. They are finely made on vellum, in gouache with gold highlights. After removing one of the frames, we see that the back contains text in Gothic characters in French. The second illumination has not been removed from its frame, but in transparency we can see Gothic arches. Very interesting pieces, from a book of hours, most likely illustrating episodes from the eventful history of the end of the Middle Ages in France. Very good condition. Great freshness of the colors.
