Beautiful Louis XV chest of drawers with pronounced curves, the crossbow front and flared sides, it is inlaid with rosewood and opens with five drawers on three rows separated by a brass groove. Rich ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronzes with a crowned C and top of royal red marble from Flanders molded with a period corbin beak, locks also original. Stamped G SCHWINGKENS, Parisian work from the mid-18th century. Very good condition, usual restorations carried out, stamp varnished. Designed under Louis XV to be a tax mark, the crowned C also became for collectors a quality and date mark used between 1745 and 1749, it seems to have been struck only on the most refined bronzes. Gustave SCHWINGKENS (-1760), cabinetmaker of German origin arrived in Paris during the Regency, he obtained his master's degrees probably at the beginning of the reign of Louis XV, established rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine then rue de Charonne around 1745, he produced high-quality chests of drawers and corner cabinets with simple and classic lines.
