"Antefix Of A Hairy And Bearded Man, ;... Baptized The Rabbi..."
This antefix of deep green-grey patinated terracotta offers us a hairy and bearded man's face worthy of being included in the Louvre in the Etruscan and Greco-Roman facsimile collections. An antefix was a finishing architectural element, the plaque filled the holes between the tiles for example. The well-finished, hollowed-out features of this elderly man make us think of a philosopher, an influential scholar, a rabbi, or even a wise hermit...
