"Large Arts And Crafts Mahogany Cylinder Desk Filing Cabinet, East India Company Style, 19th Century"
Amazing and rare large cylinder desk filing cabinet dating from the 19th century, characteristic of the Arts and Crafts movement due to its artisanal production in solid mahogany entirely worked and carved by hand in an East India Company style. The general shape, dimensions and opening system of this filing cabinet are curiously reminiscent of a cash register since you have to open the drawer to activate the movement of the cylinder curtain and thus clear the inside of the filing cabinet. Access to the storage compartment located in the center is only possible once the cylinder is open. Another independent storage compartment is located in the upper part. Some wear and tear, normal given the age of this unique object and in no way detracting from its charm, quite the contrary. There must have originally been a system for locking the drawer but this is no longer present, which does not prevent the whole from working perfectly.
