"Rare Lightning Stone - Iron Age - France - Prehistory"
Rare drop-shaped lightning stone ending in a point. Originally used in the Iron Age as a striker. This piece was later transformed in antiquity into an amulet to protect its wearer from lightning. The irregular piercing of the side hole and circular ornament indicate the use of a manual tool from the probably Gallo-Roman period. Dark beige hard stone, carved, pierced and polished, marks of time, good general condition of conservation, see photos. France, Iron Age, Gallo-Roman period.
