At the time when he lived in Liège and willingly exhibited in the room, since disappeared, of the old "Journal de Liège", Lafnet frightened and dazzled the bourgeoisie with the curious inspiration and the amusing execution of his enhanced drawings. Gifted with a very literary imagination and a romanticism that was moreover disheveled, he excelled in the reconstructions - medieval with truculence - of picturesque rogueries and horrific courses of miracles.
