A fine example of the famous No.18 'Unbreakable' miners torch produced in the late 19th century by AC Wells and Co in Manchester.
It is typical of the style that predominated before the introduction of more modern lamps made from sheet metal.
The body is a single piece of cast iron, as is the separate lid.
