Corozo nut, mother-of-pearl, wood and metal
H. 9.3; L 4 cm
(old accidents)
A corozo nut tobacco box carved with a seated man, his regulation kit on his back, holding his beard, wearing a black wooden cap with pearl and star inlays.
On the reverse, the lid, which was once made movable by means of a metal hinge, remains correctly in its box.
The term Grognard refers to the name given to the soldiers of Napoleon Bonaparte's Imperial Guard, known as the Vieille Garde - it included both Grenadiers and Chasseurs.
