"1 Tablecloth And 12 Damask Linen Napkins - Hand Embroidered Table Linen Lc - Late 19th Century "
Table set consisting of a tablecloth and twelve napkins in damask linen (late 19th century), bearing the fleur-de-lis monogram LC, hand-embroidered on a background of decoration depicting roses in branches, roses in seedlings and spread in a garland along all the edges of each piece. Monograms whose relief owes to the precise and regular execution carried out in plumetis stitch, sand stitch and fine cord stitch. Very beautiful quality of textile with contrasting damask under the effect of backlighting or light, and with a density and fluidity well preserved due to having been little used. White linen washed and ironed.
Condition : Having been kept in a family cupboard for a long time, this set still has some storage marks, quite light now due to having lightened considerably during the first wash. They are not persistent and are mainly noticeable on five or six napkins as well as near the central number of the tablecloth (not much, see close-up photos).
