"Terracotta Sculpture Signed Foretay Alfred 19th Century"
Magnificent elegant polychrome terracotta bust of a woman draped in a vaporous garment with an expression of mischief and audacity. This large bust is representative of the artistic talents known to the sculptor "Foretay" in particular by the facial expressions - Art Nouveau style - Late 19th century period. This bust was staged in a period frame on a black plastic background which gives it a more contemporary style which will give an interior a unique decoration. Foretay Alfred Jean is Swiss (1861-1944). He left his country at the age of 16 to settle in Paris where he attended the Beaux Arts. A student of Falguières, he obtained an honorable mention in 1891 and a gold medal in 1904 while attending the Paris Salons
