"Sideboard In Rio Rosewood, Napoleon III Period - Mid 19th Century"
Napoleon III furniture in Rio rosewood veneer, decorated with mother-of-pearl and bone marquetry, and topped with red Monjoi marble. This piece of furniture opens with a door decorated with a marquetry composed of mother-of-pearl and bone representing a bird and butterflies fluttering around winding branches. This floral scene is surrounded by bone fillets and then brass rods forming ogee moldings. The rosewood veneer is arranged in butterfly wings. At the corners, in the upper part, we find compositions of mother-of-pearl forming bird heads surrounded by leaves. The door also has a key, a chiseled bronze ribbon entry and an original lock in working order. On each side of this door, two recessed, turned columns with stopped fluting are decorated with brass rings at the top and bottom. This piece of furniture has projecting corners. The upper crosspiece is also decorated with a pearly floral arrangement arranged on a quatrefoil in Rio rosewood. This piece of furniture is topped with a red Montjoi marble with barely visible cracks.
