Meissen porcelain paperweight with a pug decoration (Briefbeschwerer mit Mops). Model created by Johann Joachim Kaendler and his colleagues around 1751. Marked with blue crossed swords and numbered 1645. Model listed in the Meissen - Bergmann catalogue The pug is a breed of dog originating from China and has existed in Europe since at least the 16th century. It is known as the Pug in the United States, Brazil, Australia and England and as the Mops in Germany and Russia.
