Ivanna LEMAITRE is an important Russian artist, an aristocratic refugee in 1917 in Paris. She settled in Montparnasse at the Grande Chaumière where she met Hubert Lemaître whom she married. In 1927 she received the commission for the frescoes of the church of Meudon and in 1931 the frescoes for the colonial exhibition dedicated to Marshal Lyautey. Portraitist of her contemporary artists: Cocteau, Gide, Mauriac, Lifar… It was in Cannes that she settled in 1962 from where she executed the mosaics of the church of the Sacré Coeur and the “Porte-false”. She rests in the Russian cemetery of Nice.
