Object description :

"Stone Head Of A Man, 3rd-4th Century Bc"
- Gallo-Roman stone head of a man sculpted in the round and mounted on a wooden base painted in imitation of porphyry.

- The rounded face gives this face a smiling expression, created by hemmed lips and well-marked corners. This head is also distinguished by wide-open almond-shaped eyes, very deep lacrimal cavities, eyelids and brow ridges forming a projection that extends towards the temple, eyebrows in a segment of a circle that are noticeably descending. The nose, uneven, is straight and strongly protruding from the cheekbones. The ears have very fleshy lobes and small auricles (the one on the right is much more hollowed out with a trephine). The narrow forehead gives way to dense hair composed of flat curls stylized by irregular waves.

- Wear and traces of erosion.

-Head dimensions: Height: 18 cm, Width: 11,5 cm, Total height with base: 28 cm
