Tabriz, magnificent piece in hand-knotted wool measuring 202 cm wide by 320 cm long, circa 1980 in perfect condition.
## This sumptuous model has a decoration taking up that of the world-famous "Ardebil carpet". It has many shades of gray, cream, blue, green, red, curry, accompanied by black, both on the field and on the border.
This piece takes up the same graphics as this wonderful carpet from which it is inspired, a large central medallion, four spandrels (corners), and the same type of border with cartouches and rosettes as well as many arabesques developing on a particularly worked field.
The wool is very soft and fine, the colors are frank, the velvet in perfect condition.
The fringes are clean and in good condition, as well as the edges, the whole produces a magnificent and luminous effect, a carpet of very high quality. # - The main border is decorated with cartouches alternating with small rosettes.
We find this type of motif in this type of carpet which is inspired by illuminations.
# - The border is composed of delicate bands of clouds on a dark background, a Chinese-inspired motif.
# - The central medallion is made up of a superb sixteen-branched rosette, surrounded by sixteen almond-shaped pendants.
The color of these motifs accentuates the contrast with the cream background, sown with numerous flowers and palmettes.
# - The four spandrels are decorated with as many fractions of medallions identical to the rosette.
This suggests an infinite repetition of this motif and gives an indeterminate character to the whole.
# - The two pendants of the central medallion are arranged as always in the length of the vertical axis of the carpet, and transformed into very realistic mosque lamps. Note the presence of these elements, and the absence of living motifs other than flowers.
# - here in a few lines, is the explanation for the creation of this work of art.
# - The famous "Ardebil" carpet was knotted in Kashan in Persia, now Iran.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
