Object description :

"Transition Wrought Iron Console, Circa 1760/70"
Rare console in wrought iron and wrought iron.

Resting on a central foot decorated with natural foliage which supports a scalloped belt decorated with a Greek frieze, it is topped with a veined gray marble.

At the straddle of the upper part of the foot, a stylized leaf is topped with a star inserted in a circle.

Of an uncommon production, the metal furniture of the 18th century always remains of very beautiful workmanship. We have here a beautiful example of a work marked by the transition between the lines of the Louis XV style and the neo-classical ornamentation which will shine under the reign of Louis XVI.

French work circa 1760-1770.
