An oil on cardboard titled on the back "Still life with teapot" Signed lower right Victor VIKO Dated 1964 Beautiful frame Dimensions: 33 x 24 cm Good condition Victor Konsens, pseudonym Viko (1915-1998), French painter. Victor was born in the Parisian district of Belleville in Paris to Jewish parents who had emigrated from Poland. He received first prize in the general competition of the city of Paris in 1925. He then entered the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts. After the war, his early works were rewarded with the award of a second Orion prize in 1950. His painting at the time offers a pessimism reinforced by the dominants of ochre and gray, states an economy of colors even suggesting monochrome. Then his works move "towards a use of colour full of strength and vitality", where Viko paints his holiday destinations: Normandy, Marseille or the Mediterranean countries.
