"Dance Card With Miniature"
Magnificent velvet dance card decorated with a fine sheet of finely engraved solid silver. This superb notebook presents a goldsmith's work with a meticulous cutting of the silver, engraved with a burin with great precision. In the center, in a delicate silver cartouche, is a splendid miniature in warm and vibrant colors, probably done in gouache. The landscape represents a lively waterfall in the foreground, observed by two characters on the left. In the background, the tumultuous water pours into a large expanse lined with trees, offering a poetic scene worthy of a great painter. The interior of the notebook is lined with turquoise blue fabric. A handwritten page is present, bearing a name and a date: June 22, 1897, probably an invitation for a future dance. Small detail to note: the original pencil, which closed the notebook, is missing. However, the back of the notebook, just as refined, is covered in velvet and decorated with a new engraved silver cutout, confirming the care taken with every detail of this exceptional object. This dance card is a testament to the craftsmanship of the time, used to create unique and luxurious pieces intended for the upper middle class. A real treasure for any collector or to adorn a display case. Dimensions: Height: 10.5 cm Width: 7.5 cm Condition: Good condition, despite the absence of the pencil.
