Compagnie Des Indes, Pair Of Porcelain Plates, 18th Century
Porcelain plates, scalloped shape, with polychrome decoration, from the 18th century. European order for a Chinese porcelain plate from the East India Company. With identical polychrome decoration to the enamels of the famille rose, composed in the center of a male character representing a musician playing the flute and small flowers surrounded by a frieze of leafy scrolls and small flowers. The wings are decorated with enamels alternating birds and floral compositions matching the rest of the decoration. The rim is decorated with a double copper-colored line. We can also distinguish numerous decorative elements such as the musician's flute, a few petals of small flowers, scrolls and bird feathers, in gold colors made using the technique known as "tobacco leaf".
