"Rare Small Cylinder Desk And Display Cabinet, In Mahogany, Louis XVI Style – Mid 19th Century"
From a 19th century Parisian workshop, this rare Louis XVI desk in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer is composed of a cylinder dressed with brass rods with an ogee. This cylinder is notable for its two mahogany colors. It is decorated with two side handles and a lock in working order accompanied by its pearl key. Inside, a sliding shelf is lined with green leather with a gold vignette. We find three small drawers with brass knob and three niches. In addition, this desk has a large drawer in the belt and large grooves inlaid with brass on its uprights. It rests on four sheathed legs with brass grooves, a collar at the top and a ball shoe at the bottom. The upper part of this desk is composed of a display case opening with three doors decorated with interior brass moldings surrounding beveled glass. These doors are all equipped with keys and locks in working order. The sides of this piece of furniture are also glazed.
