Oil on canvas by the orientalist painter Maurice BOUVIOLLE (1893-1971) depicting a market in Algeria. Work titled "Marché à Boghari" and dated "été 1929". Post-orientalist artist who represents the reality of daily life with warm colors inspired by the south. A student at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris in 1910, in the studios of Gabriel Ferrier and Henri Rousseau, he met the painter Maxime Maufra in 1912 who encouraged him to go to Algeria. His orientalist paintings are numerous. Among his main themes is the M'zab region, with a particular curiosity for people. He won the Abd-el-Tif prize in 1921 (with Jean Bouchaud). He exhibited his Marché à Ghardaia at the Salon des artistes français in 1922, which earned him the silver medal and definitively ensured his success.
