The child is holding a rosary in his hands
Madonna and Child, Malines Late Gothic, first quarter of the 16th century
Marked with the ‘M’ in the shape of her mantle
This statue has probably travelled to the southern countrys back in time, the polychrome paint has southern influenses with its colour and guilding and was done when she probably travelled to spain or portugal
The very iconic features of the Malines statues, like the high forehead and oval shaped eyes are well noticeable and her long loose hair resting against her shoulders
Overall in very good preserved condition
34 cm high
