Attributed to the workshop of Thomire-Duterme & Cie Éros Cast bronze, chiseled and gilded with ormulu Paris, circa 1810 Empire period Base in sea green marble dating from the 19th century H (total): 41 x 13 x 13 cm Our sculpture represents Éros, standing in contrapposto, lightly dressed in a very beautiful wet drape. The sculpture is entirely made of bronze in three parts. The bronze is treated with matte and shiny tones which gives very beautiful reflections changing depending on the light. The whole rests on a base in sea green marble decorated with a flower basket flanked by a garland of vine leaves. Thomire-Duterme & Cie: Thomire and Duterme joined forces in 1804 by taking over the business of Daguerre and Lignereux. Under the company name Thomire, Duterme et Cie they became the largest suppliers of gilded bronze, employing up to seven hundred workers. Thomire then experienced significant development. He was the first bronzier to participate in the Exhibition of Industrial Products of 1806, during which he received a gold medal.
