"China, 17th Century, Ming Period, Glazed Earthenware Statue Depicting A Dignitary. "
China, 17th century, Ming period, very pretty statue in glazed earthenware depicting a dignitary standing on a hexagonal base. He wears traditional clothing fastened by three large buttons and his hands join under ample sleeves. His posture is proud, his body straight, his gaze intense and determined towards the distance. The forehead is encircled by a red headband enclosing a braid rising from the nape of the neck. The whole is superb and reflects centuries of ceramic culture influenced by the Tang and Han dynasties. Characteristic of this period, the head is removable, ending in the shape of a cone. This particularity made it possible to interchange the faces on the bodies of the characters. Good state of conservation compared to the age except for slight wear, friction and a small loss on the back of the neck. Obviously without any impact on the aesthetics. Beautiful polychromy still very present.
Height 42.5 cm. The scale indicator on the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to all.
