Rocaille Style Solid Silver And Glass Pepper Mill, Late 19th Century - C1900.

Magnificent Rococo style pepper mill in silver and glass.

The pear-shaped mill rests on three feet with scrolls and acanthus leaves, supporting the solid silver base.
The body is made of channel-cut glass.
The upper part closing the mill is made of silver, with a second rocaille skin decoration.
The rotating grip consists of two dolphins spitting scrolls of acanthus leaves.

The style of this pepper mill allows it to be dated to the end of the 19th century or perhaps the very beginning of the 20th century.

The mill is hallmarked:
. Boar's head for silver since 1838
. Unfortunately illegible goldsmith's hallmark

Superb, very elegant mill with its glass body and its solid silver structure decorated with numerous rocaille ornaments.
