"Exceptional Ghoum Silk Rug"
This Ghoum carpet, dating from the Shah era in Iran around 1965, measures 309 x 204 cm and is made of silk velvet on foundations entirely of natural silk. With a density of approximately 10,000 knots per dm², it is distinguished by its beautiful finesse and excellent general condition, as well as by the remarkable freshness of its colors. The central field features an original decoration with stylized birds surrounding nests designed from knots and rings. The ruby red background is decorated with delicate golden scrolls and stems, ending in flowering palmettes. Three intertwined medallions in midnight blue, golden beige and old pink, in the shape of a stylized diamond, are framed by an old gold floral crown, creating a striking visual balance. The borders are also remarkable, the main one being in midnight blue with interlacing of crenellated old gold branches, enriched with finely drawn flower and foliage motifs. This rug combines elegance and sophistication, making it a unique piece for lovers of textile art.
