Very beautiful trompe l'oeil by Benjamin Raspail fils (France, 1823 - 1899), dated 1866. Oil on walnut panel. The two birds, a goldfinch and a titmouse are very finely painted and very detailed. At the bottom right you see the remains of a paper label no. 40, probably a label from an exhibition.
